Testing the Hypothesis, Part 2

Testing the Hypothesis, Part 2

by Josh Korthuis

For this portion of testing the hypothesis I interviewed 5 friends that I felt should be interested in my product of Custom Toilet Seats, but for varies reasons decided they did not like the product.

Who:
They people who felt my product didn't meet their needs were mostly women who were college students and are not concerned with their bathroom experience.

What:
The toilet seat was not something they would consider purchasing and did not seem very important to spend their hard earned money on.

Why:
The group of individuals I interviewed overall stated that they would much rather spend their money on other essentials for college students, rather then a state of the art toilet seat. They felt the product was unnecessary to their bathroom experience and that they could easily live without it. I believe after interviewing these individuals that most of them felt slightly uncomfortable talking about toilet seats and would rather just avoid the subject all together.

Inside the Boundary:

Who: People of all ages that have the money to spend for an upgraded bathroom experience

What: These people want to have a more comfortable experience using the restroom and would like to add more style to their bathroom with imagery on the seat itself

Why: They value what the product is offering and see the benefits of the custom seats and all the features that comes with it. These people likely have extra money to spend on things like this and probably have upgrades throughout the rest of their living space.

 Outside the Boundary:

Who: Mostly women who do not have extra money to spend on bathroom upgrades

What: This product doesn't meet their needs because it is not something they could see themselves purchasing with the money they have.

Why: These people don't want to spend their money on this product because they would rather spend it on more essential things like extra groceries. They are also not interested in having another toilet seat because they believe the one they have meets all their current needs.
