STEVE JOBS: The Exclusive Biography
1) What was the general theme or argument of the book?
The theme of the book was innovation because it explains Steve's life from childhood all the way through the creation and success of Apple. The book doesn't have arguments more of just story telling of Steve's life and its up and downs.
2) How did the book, in your opinion, connect with and enhance what you are learning in ENT 3003?
It showed how a small company of Steve and Woz building and selling computer boards became Apple, a billion dollar corporation, and all they time it took to grow to that size with their success and failures.
3) If you had to design an exercise for this class, based on the book you read, what would that exercise involve?
If I had to design an assignment based on the book I would say that just like Steve and Woz teamed up, 2 classmates would have to team up and design a product based on things they are both passionate about just like they had passion for computers. The students would then show the design either from a drawing or a prototype to the class and see if it would be a product others would be interested.
4) What was your biggest surprise or 'aha' moment when reading the book? In other words, what did you learn that differed most from your expectations?
I did not know that Steve Jobs worked for Atari before creating Apple and that him and Woz worked together their to design a 1 player Atari game. This was new information to me and this makes me see how it all began with those 2 because they had success with the game is why they were willing to open a new company together.
Josh,
ReplyDeleteI am sad to tell you that the assignment was supposed to be on the second book category, that covers entrepreneurship, business, and learning more generally. I would suggest you contact Mr. Pryor or the course assistant Maddie asap.
Anyhow, about the content of your reflection, I wish you would have shared more details on the book, as now it seems like you gave very general answers without any.. insight per say. What were the failures? What were the ups and downs? What is the key take-away?
Hey there Josh,
ReplyDeleteAs Maria mentioned, sadly this book was in the first category. However, it does still seem as if you gained a lot of knowledge from this reading, which is never a bad thing. I also did not know that Steve Jobs worked for Atari, and that provides even more insight into the background of one of the most successful people ever. It truly is interesting to find out about the mixed backgrounds that every business person takes, as it is hardly ever a straight path.
